Mission 2370 - Archerfield to Roma

Background

On Wednesday the 14th of November 2007 I flew Mission 2370, making it my 77th Angel Flight.

The mission description from Angel Flight was:

SUBSEQUENT TRIP REQUEST: (5th & 6th Angel Flights):

A forty-three year old women from just outside Roma needs to see specialists in Brisbane. She has a rare and life threatening condition known as Laryngeal Spasm which requires her to carry oxygen.

Travel via bus to appointments has left her feeling ill and caused her to miss appointments.

Previously Angel Flight has helped her daughter and late husband.

I had previously carried Fran, her daughter and husband on Missions 933 and 934

Having packed Fran's bag in the back and strapped her in, we tried to beat the Dash-8 on the way off the ground, but they got in just ahead of us, so we had to turn off the runway half way down, let them blast pasts us, before we lined up for take-off.

Initially we climed to 9,000', but due to the cloud having built up to this level I requested 10,000' where the flying was smooth and the sun shone in the window.

Fran and I compared notes on parenthood (She's a few years ahead of me in that departement and could only nod sagely to my comments), and before you knew it we had to commence our descent into Archerfield, assume the brace position, close the eyes and await the impact of the undercarriage upon terra firma.

We arrived exactly on time for Earth Angel Daniel Kennedy to take Fran into his care on the the way to the hospital.

Summary

We were back on the ground in Archerfield after having
