Missions 2857 and 2832 - Archerfield to Chinchilla and theodore

Background

On Tuesday the 22nd of April 2008 I flew Missions 2857 and 2832, making them my 91st and 92nd Angel Flights.

The mission descriptions from Angel Flight were:

Mission 2857 - SUBSEQUENT TRIP REQUEST:

A seventeen year old girl from Chinchilla has had a recent successful kidney transplant in Brisbane requires weekly checkups in Brisbane.

Angel Flight will assist the family and fly this young girl and her grandmother to and from Chinchilla

Mission 2832 - SUBSEQUENT TRIP REQUEST (4th Angel Flight):

A 66 year old man from Theodore been diagnosed with having a blockage in his cartoid artery.

This trip is for routine pre operative check up for vascular surgery at the Royal Brisbane Hospital.

Getting ready

I like to get to the airfield well before the passengers so as to not un-nerve them unduly as I try to figure out how to open the doors to the plane and get myself sorted out for the flight ahead.

I had walked through the terminal building lugging my bags and talking on the mobile phone to the refueler and was trying to remember the security code to allow me to open the door to get airside, when I got a tap on the shoulder and a "Can I open the door for you?" It was Kayla who had been dropped off early by Earth Angel Lynette Walker.

I told them to stay put in the lounge chairs while I did battle with the cover, the fuel caps, the dip stick and various other bits and pieces that seem to take up my time before getting going.

By the time I returned Earth Angel Lindsay Ball had also arrived with Allan.

Archerfield to Chinchilla

With everyone aboard, we got away on time and headed due west, climbing and cruising un-impeded through the Amberley and Oakey control zones.

It soon became apparent that Kayla's trip to the doctors had been exhausting, as the normally attentive co-pilot was snoozing on the back seat. Even more telling was the fact that she refused the jelly snakes that I offered.

Pam, of course, was her usual cheerful self.

A little over an hour later we touched down at Chinchilla and bade farewell to Kayla and Pam.

Chinchilla to Theodore

We were met by Juanita Goodland to take Allan back home.

Juanita is Theodore's local champion for Angel Flight and acts as Earth Angel on many occasions. So I knew that Allan was in good hands.
