Mission 3515 - Archerfield to Inverell

Background

On Friday the 31st of October 2008 I flew Mission 3515, making it my 103rd Angel Flight.

The mission description from Angel Flight was:

SUBSEQUENT TRIP REQUEST: (11th and 12th Angel Flight)

A twenty-one year old young woman now living in Inverell sufferring from a Neuro Movement Disorder needs to attend a hospital in Brisbane for on-going treatment. An Angel Flight will help alleviate the stress a long trip by road would impose.

Please note - This patient is in a wheelchair but has enough mobility to get in and out of vehicles.

It was a beautiful day as I readied the aircraft. By the time I was finished Earth Angel Lori Sexton (rear right of photograph) was waiting in the terminal building with Maggie and her mum Lesley.

Seeing that I had to first stow the wheelchair and a few bags, I took these out to the aircraft, leaving my charges in the relative cool of the terminal. Once everything was ready to go, we crossed over the tarmac and got aboard, with the girls both taking a seat in the back.

As my passengers are wont to do Maggie soon fell asleep, leaving only Lesley for company. As we climbed to the south above a scattered layer of cloud and battled the headwinds we had a bit of a chat.

A bit over an hour later we were descending toward Inverell, where Lesley and I unloaded the plane as Maggie sought shelter from the sun.

On the way home I was asked by Flight Service to act as a firespotter to try to locate one fire north of Grafton. Apart from this, the flight back home was uneventful, as flights should be.
