A seventy five year old gentleman from Theodore has been diganosed with prostate cancer.
He requires post radiation check up at the Hospital and has no other means of transport to make this appointment.
Leg 1: Archerfield to Theodore
This was my first Angel Flight in a long time. Having had to endure the time to have the plane repainted (took 3 month+ instead of the proposed 5 weeks) and then spending a month at home minding the kids, it was close to half a year since I had last used the "Angel Flight" prefix during my radio calls.
I had to get up early to be in Theodore by 8:30. So I wound up taking off from Archerfield even before the tower was manned and headed north in mostly fine conditions, with only the odd bit of cumulus to contend with.
Leg 2: Theodore to Archerfield
There was no sign of my passenger Ted, but the inimitable Juanita Goodall, who arranges the Angel Flights out of Theordore, was there to greet me. After a short while she went to investigate. She was only gone for about 4 minutes when Ted and his wife, with Juanita in trail turned up.
I got Ted onboard, and headed south again, where we touched down in Archerfield right on time.
Earth Angel Victor Cumner was already waiting and soon whisked Ted away to hospital. We arranged to meet up again a few hours later.
Leg 3: Archerfield to Theodore
With Ted out of hospital an hour early, we got going an hour early too.
This time there was a little more cloud about; so about half way between Kilcoy and Gayndah I requested and received clearance to fly direct to Theodore - this put us clear of some build up and afforded smoother conditions (as well as saving a massive 2 minutes or so).
I had Ted back on the ground about an hour early. After making use of the facilities I bade him farewell as he was trying to raise his wife on the mobile phone.
Leg 4: Theodore to Archerfield
The flight back home was a joy. It was again in mostly smooth conditions, this time a lot of it 'between layers', and the sun was going down in the west.
I touched down roughly an hour and a half later, just after the tower had closed for the night.
Summary
I was back on the ground in Archerfield after having
spent 6 hours and 48 minutes in the air and taxiing
