Mission 4754 - Archerfield to Tara

Background

On Thursday the 3rd of December 2009 I flew Mission 4754, making it my 122nd Angel Flight.

The mission description from Angel Flight was:

INITIAL TRIP REQUEST: An elderly gentleman from Tara needs to trave to the Prince Alfred hospital in Brisbane with his wife to see his eye specialist and has crushed vertebrae making long distance travel by car too uncomfortable.

Earth Angel Daniel Kennedy beat me to the punch: He was already in the terminal with Rex and his wife Pat when I arrived to prepare the aeroplane for the flight.

Luckily for me I had called ahead for the refueler, so he pulled up just as I did and thus I could get on with my job while simulataneously being refueled.

The weather was a little worse than the previous week, with constant rain, but nothing too boisterous. After initially cruising at 8,000' we descended to 6,000' to remain just clear of some cloud.

A little over an hour later we touched down at Tara on a wet runway. The local SES, who seem to run the strip, were there to greet us again. Pat and Rex congratulated me on being a good pilot, but being newbie Angel Flight passengers their expectations are really not that high yet.

The flight back home was smooth at 10,000' with a nice tail wind and the light fading, eventually leaving me in the dark.

I landed at Archerfield a little less than an hour later.

Summary

I was back on the ground in Archerfield, and tucking FWL into bed, after having
