Mission 4770 - Archerfield to Grafton

Background

On Monday the 14th of December 2009 I flew Mission 4770, making it my 125th Angel Flight.

The mission descriptions from Angel Flight was:

SUBSEQUENT TRIP REQUEST:

A nine year old girl from Blaxlands Creek (near Grafton) has kidney failure and is on home automated peritoneal dialysis.

Due to the stress of the dialysis her cardiac condition is worsening and she now requires Haemodialysis three times a week at the Royal Childrens Hospital in Brisbane

I had flown Rebecca and her Mum just the week before on Mission 4761. This time, however, I would only be taking them home - Andrew Mladen flying them up to Brisbane in the morning.

Archerfield to Grafton

When I arrived at the airport, Earth Angel Terry Mickleson was already waiting with Rebecca and Kylee. So they had to wait for me to wake our steed and refuel her.

Still, we got going about 20 minutes earlier than anticipated and headed down a familiar route. There was a scattered overcast as we neared Grafton, but it was scattered enough for me to do a visual arrival without having to resort to the NDB approach.

I farewelled Rebecca and Kylee and turned the aeroplane around.

Grafton to Archerfield

The return trip was without any dramas. Having climbed to 10,000' I sat pretty (well - as pretty as I can get) for about 30 odd minutes before commencing my descent into a deserted Archerfield.

I touched down roughly an hour later on 10L.
