Mission 4968 - Gladstone to Archerfield

Background

On Friday the 12th of February 2010 I flew Mission 4968, making it my 129th Angel Flight.

The mission descriptions from Angel Flight was:

SUBSEQUENT TRIP REQUEST:

A six year old boy from Calliope (Gladstone) has Congenital Cataracts and Glaucoma. He requires a three monthly review with a specialist in Brisbane.

I had flown Caleb and his family on the return of their maiden mission in April 2007 and on Mission 3089 in June 2008.

Seeing that I had to pick Caleb up at 8:30, I got going before the tower was even open for business for the day.

The trip up the coast was pleasant enough, with a little bit of cumulus.

The NOTAM for Gladstone had indicated extensive runway and taxiway works in progress and gave a convoluted and detailed description of where you may or may not taxi. But after landing, it became clear that this was not really of any great import to me. The red and white cones marked the area adequately enough.

As I rolled to a stop in the General Aviationi area, I noticed Caleb and his mum Kim already eagerly awaiting transportation to Brisbane.

Caleb and Kim seemed to enjoy the trip down, which, again was in reasonably smooth conditions experiencing just a little 10 minute interval of mild turbulence when be passed through a trough. Kim and Caleb spent a little bit of time sleeping.

A little over an hour and a half later we touched down at Archerfield where Earth Angel Colin Coyne was already waiting for us. I handed my charges over to Colin and then tended to the plane which needed more fuel for the second angel flight that day Mission 4900 to Grafton.
