Mission 5735 - Tara to Archerfield

Background

On Wednesday the 24th of November 2010 I flew Mission 5735, making it my 144th Angel Flight.

The mission description from Angel Flight was:

INITIAL TRIP REQUEST:

A fifty three year old man from Tara has spinal cord compression and requires an MRI at the Royal Brisbane Hospital for investigation of possible Neurosurgery.

Due to his condition travel via road is difficult so an Angel Flight will help get him to this important appointment.

Archerfield to Tara

I headed off to the west into mainly fine weather, though the occasional cloud was about so I did wind up going in and out of it for most of the flight. Tara itself, however was in the clear, and, despite my best navigational efforts I managed to find the aerodrome and runway.

James was already waiting for me and quickly hopped aboard. The flight east was similar to the outbound leg, except that as we got closer to Archerfield, conditions deteriorated, forcing us to detour via Amberley for an NDB approach.

Earth Angel Ivor Luscombe was ready to receive James for the dangerous part of the trip - braving the Brisbane traffic on the way to the hospital.
